Our story

Sage and Grace Design Studio was born from passion, care, and a genuine concern for the physical and mental health of individuals in our communities. As a nurse of 16 years, I have always been in the business of helping and serving others. There is nothing that makes my heart smile more than knowing that my actions have had a direct impact on making someone feel seen, heard, and understood. I truly feel THAT is the greatest gift you could give to anyone, however, the more I talked with my patients, friends, and colleagues I began to realize that many lacked those feelings in their personal and professional lives. It made me wonder why so many people felt that way, and what had caused this change over the years. There is no denying that COVID-19 has had a direct effect on the way we function as individuals, as well as the way many businesses operate.

Thanks to social media, we have access to pretty much every business at the click of a button. You don’t have to build relationships or even speak to anyone anymore. The beauty of relationships has been stripped away by our desire for convenience and time, creating a new form of alienation and detachment. As a result, there has been an increase in the number of people feeling forgotten, unseen, under-appreciated, and struggling with their mental health. I found myself wanting to be a part of the solution after witnessing so many people feel as if they didn’t matter, however, I didn’t quite know how.

It hit me following a loss I experienced in 2022.

My family received so many thoughtful items, along with personally written cards from people I had not seen or talked to in ages. It was at that moment I realized the impact of intentional gift-giving and the idea of Sage and Grace was born. As I began to do research, I came across an article that said modern psychology suggests that the act of gifting support’s emotional and physical well-being of both parties by reducing stress, elevating happiness, and combating feelings of depression which can ultimately lead to a longer lifespan. Who knew that gifting could help you live longer? I certainly didn’t.

Now that you know my story, I am so thankful to everyone who’s embarking on this journey with me by supporting my small business. I hope that our service will play at least a small part in helping to improve the physical and mental health of our communities through the art of intentional gift-giving.
